Military Cooperation between Morocco and Rwanda

On the esteemed instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), General Corps Commander Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the FAR and Commander of the Southern Zone, welcomed Major General Vincent Nyakarundi, Chief of Staff of the Rwandan Ground Forces, on Tuesday at the General Staff headquarters. This visit marks an official engagement in Morocco from November 10 to 14.

According to a statement from the FAR’s General Staff, this visit aligns with the implementation of a military cooperation agreement signed in June 2025 in Rabat. This agreement structures the avenues of collaboration between the two countries across various domains, including training, expertise exchange, operational security, and strategic coordination.

During their discussions, General Nyakarundi expressed his profound satisfaction with the quality of the bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Rwanda. He emphasized that this visit represents a crucial step in deepening military cooperation and provides an ideal platform for enhancing exchanges between the two armies.

Both officials reaffirmed their shared commitment to continue the momentum already established and to expand areas of cooperation, confirming their mutual ambition to build a structured, sustainable, and exemplary military partnership.

The relationship between Morocco and Rwanda rests on a solid foundation, having been strengthened following His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s historic visit to Kigali in 2016. Today, it is evolving into a strategic partnership aimed at promoting peace, security, and development across the African continent.
