A New Modernized Rural Health Center in Oulad Dahou

INDH: Advancing Health Care in Rural Morocco
Since its launch in 2005 by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) has been pivotal in enhancing healthcare services across various regions of the Kingdom. In line with this mission, a Level II rural health center has recently been upgraded in the commune of Oulad Dahou, part of the prefecture of Inezgane-Aït Melloul.
This modern facility exemplifies INDH’s unwavering commitment to improving health services, supporting medical professionals, and bringing healthcare facilities closer to rural populations.
The renovated center features two delivery rooms, an examination and ultrasound room, as well as a midwifery and centralized care station, thereby providing easy and secure access to essential medical services for the local community.
The head of the Human Capital Enhancement and Emerging Generations Program at the Inezgane-Aït Melloul prefecture highlighted that the upgrade of this center is part of the rural development fund’s program aimed at reducing territorial disparities. With a budget of approximately six million dirhams, the project specifically aims to address the healthcare deficit, particularly concerning services for women.
Dr. Abdellatif Lamtaouech, the center’s director, emphasized that this newly operational facility offers a wide range of medical services benefiting residents from nearly 11 douars.
The primary goal of this ambitious project is to enhance access to essential healthcare for rural populations while strengthening maternal and child health—an essential focus in the national human development strategy.
