Casablanca Stock Exchange Opens on a Dour Note

The Casablanca Stock Exchange opened on a somber note on Friday, with its main index, the MASI, slipping by 0.19% to 18,605.43 points.

The MASI 20, which includes the 20 most liquid stocks, fell by 0.22% to 1,515.88 points. Meanwhile, the MASI ESG, which tracks companies with top ESG ratings as published by Moody’s ESG Solutions, recorded a slight decrease of 0.01% to 1,264.56 points.

The MASI Mid and Small Cap index, reflecting the performance of small and medium-sized companies, experienced a decline of 0.55%, settling at 1,794.08 points.

In individual stocks, Stroc Industrie saw the sharpest drop, plunging 5% to 285 MAD, followed by Crédit du Maroc down 3.19% to 966.2 MAD, CFG Bank declining 2.24% to 240.5 MAD, TGCC down 1.61% to 910.1 MAD, and Disty Technologies slipping 1.37% to 360 MAD.

On the contrary, Microdata rose by 5.46% to 811 MAD, SNEP increased by 4.16% to 500 MAD, SMI was up by 3.88% to 2,701 MAD, Fenie Brossette climbed by 2.83% to 450 MAD, and Cartier Saada reported a 2.54% gain to 35.89 MAD.

The previous day, the MASI had closed with a gain of 0.57%.
