Moroccan Tourism GDP Recorded an All-Time High in 2024

Morocco’s Tourism GDP Sees Significant Rise in 2024, According to the HCP
Morocco’s tourism GDP has recorded exceptional performance in 2024, showcasing a growth of 38.4% compared to 2019, reaching 116.2 billion dirhams, according to the tourism satellite account (CST) published by the High Commission for Planning (HCP). The sector’s contribution to the national GDP has also strengthened, increasing from 6.8% in 2019 to 7.3% in 2024.
Strong Expansion of Domestic Tourism Consumption
Domestic tourism consumption reached 201.7 billion dirhams in 2024, marking a notable increase of 42.6% compared to the 141.4 billion dirhams recorded in 2019, prior to the pandemic.
This dynamic can be attributed to two main factors:
the robust recovery of international tourism,
the consolidation of domestic tourism.
Receipts from inbound tourism established at 136.9 billion dirhams, showing a significant increase of 46.8% compared to 2019. Meanwhile, domestic and outbound tourism progressed by 34.6%, reaching 64.8 billion dirhams.
Morocco Exceeds 113 Billion Dirhams in Tourism Revenue by 2025
By the end of October 2025, tourism revenues reached a historic level of 113.26 billion dirhams, demonstrating an annual growth of 16.7%, according to the Foreign Exchange Office.
This momentum has altered the structure of tourism consumption:
the share of inbound tourism rose from 65.9% to 67.9%,
the share of domestic and outbound tourism declined from 34.1% to 32.1%.
Sustained Growth in Production and Value Added
Driven by strong demand, production in the tourism sector reached 181.9 billion dirhams in 2024, up from 127.8 billion dirhams in 2019, representing a growth of 42.3%. The value added generated by the sector reached 96.4 billion dirhams, an increase of 37%.
This improvement is also supported by a 46% rise in net taxes after subsidies applied to tourism products, thereby enhancing the final value added.
A Dynamic Fueled by Global Recovery and National Efforts
The strong growth of the tourism GDP in 2024 reflects:
the global revival of the travel sector,
Morocco’s promotional efforts,
the rise in tourism investments,
and better integration of tourism within public policy.
This dynamic reaffirms the strategic role of tourism in the national economy and its capacity to generate sustainable growth in the post-health crisis context.
