Festival Al Assil: A Tribute to Moroccan Cultural Heritage

The "Al Assil" Festival for Cultures and Art Kicks Off in Casablanca

The 6th edition of the "Al Assil" Festival for Cultures and Art opened on Wednesday in Casablanca, themed: "The Role of Moroccan Cultural Heritage in Strengthening National Identity."

Organized by the Al Fane Al Assil Troupe and running until December 6, the event is supported by the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, the Mohammed V Theater, the Regional Directorate of Culture Casablanca-Settat, and the Sidi Belyout District. It boasts a rich program that includes four professional plays, three training workshops, and two artistic gatherings open to the public.

The festival’s artistic director, Ayoub Benhabbach, emphasized that this event has become a vital space for exploring significant social phenomena through arts and culture. He stated that the aim is to pass on cultural knowledge to the youth, encourage artistic creations, and strengthen the link between heritage and development.

The festival unites public institutions, cultural organizations, artists, and civil society, showcasing a collective dynamic that promotes Moroccan cultural values.

Over the years, "Al Assil" has established itself as a showcase for national artistic expression and a unique exchange platform, enriching the Moroccan cultural scene through intellectual, theatrical, and artistic initiatives.

The opening ceremony was marked by a heartfelt tribute to artist Salah Eddine Ben Moussa, honoring his exceptional career and significant contributions to Moroccan cinema and theater.
