Red Weather Alert: Heavy Rains and Strong Winds in Several Regions of Morocco

The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a red alert due to heavy rainfall and locally intense winds anticipated in several regions of the Kingdom.
Heavy Rainfall in the North and Northeast
According to the Directorate, precipitation is expected to reach between 90 to 120 mm in the Chefchaouen province, starting from Thursday, January 29, at 11:00 AM until Friday, January 30, at 6:00 PM.
In an orange alert, significant rainfall is expected to be between 60 to 90 mm in the provinces of Al Hoceima and Larache, and between 30 to 60 mm in Fès-Anjra, Taza, Tangier-Assilah, M’diq-Fnideq, Tetouan, Kenitra, Taounate, and Ouezzane.
Strong Winds Increasing Risks
The Directorate has also forecast locally intense winds with speeds ranging from 75 to 85 km/h in areas including M’diq-Fnideq, Tetouan, Tangier-Assilah, Fès-Anjra, Chefchaouen, Taza, Ksar El Kebir, Taourirt, Driouch, Al Hoceima, and Oujda Angad during the same period.
Call for Vigilance
The Directorate urges the public to exercise extreme caution, avoid non-essential travel, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides, and to continually monitor updates from weather bulletins.
