Conference on “Morocco and the Council of Europe: A Successful Partnership” organized by the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences of Ain Chock

Under the theme “Morocco and the Council of Europe: A Successful Partnership,” the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences of Ain Chock, in collaboration with the LINKS university institution, is organizing a scientific symposium and debate on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 3:00 PM, at the faculty in Casablanca.
Strengthening Cooperation Between Morocco and the Council of Europe
The relationship between Morocco and the Council of Europe serves as a model of partnership between the northern and southern shores of the Mediterranean. Since Morocco became a partner for parliamentary democracy in 2011, this relationship has experienced continuous development in strategic areas such as human rights, the strengthening of democracy, the rule of law, the fight against corruption, cultural diversity empowerment, and sustainable development.
This cooperation is dynamic, promoting the exchange of expertise and best practices between both parties. Morocco plays a crucial bridging role between Europe and the Arab world, reinforcing its status as a regional leader. This partnership illustrates a mutually beneficial relationship that has successfully navigated obstacles and established a balance between the universality of human rights and the specificities of the Moroccan context.
The Symposium: An Opportunity for Dialogue and Exchange
The symposium will feature Ms. Carmen Marti Gómez, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Morocco, who will deliver a keynote address on the main theme of the event: “Morocco, the European Union, and the Council of Europe: A Successful Partnership.” This meeting will provide a unique opportunity for participants—academics, researchers, and stakeholders interested in international affairs—to deepen their understanding of the cooperation dynamics between Morocco and the Council of Europe and to explore the future prospects of this partnership.
The Dean of the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences of Ain Chock will also speak at the opening, emphasizing the importance of this partnership for promoting democratic values and human rights in the region.
An Open Invitation to Participate
This symposium represents an opportunity to discuss strategic cooperation between Morocco and the Council of Europe and to address avenues for collaboration in various important fields related to human development and good governance. Everyone is invited to attend and participate in this event, organized by the faculty in collaboration with LINKS, at the LINKS Center, located within the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences of Ain Chock.
There is no doubt that this gathering will contribute to strengthening mutual understanding and building bridges of cooperation among the various stakeholders in the region.
