Casablanca Stock Exchange Opens Higher
The Casablanca Stock Exchange began on a positive note on Friday, with its benchmark index, the MASI, rising by 0.14% to reach 17,549.06 points.
The MASI 20, which reflects the performance of the 20 most liquid companies, saw a slight increase of 0.02%, reaching 1,346.96 points. Meanwhile, the MASI ESG index, which tracks companies with the best ESG ratings according to Moody’s ESG Solutions, gained 0.29%, climbing to 1,218.69 points.
On the other hand, the MASI Mid and Small Cap index, which measures the performance of small and medium market capitalizations, remained nearly stable with a modest increase of 0.01%, sitting at 1,794.38 points.
In individual stocks, the most significant gains were recorded by Réalisations Mécaniques, which surged 8.02% to 525 MAD, followed by Minière Touissit (+4.17% to 3,750 MAD), Sothema (+4.13% to 1,614 MAD), Med Paper (+3.91% to 24.99 MAD), and SNEP (+3.59% to 404 MAD).
Conversely, the largest declines were experienced by Cartier Saada, which fell by 4.89% to 29.01 MAD, Sanlam Maroc (-4.54% to 2,565 MAD), CMGP Group (-2.65% to 360.15 MAD), Maghreb Oxygène (-2.51% to 385.10 MAD), and Cash Plus (-1.23% to 280 MAD).
On Thursday, the MASI had closed with a loss of 0.16%.
