Wind Energy: Morocco Establishes Itself Among Regional Leaders

Morocco Rises in Renewable Energy Sector: Wind Capacity Expected to Reach 2,629 MW by End of 2025

Morocco continues its ascent in the renewable energy sector, particularly in wind power, with an installed capacity expected to reach 2,629 MW by the end of 2025. This 11% year-on-year growth allows the Kingdom to secure the third position in Africa and fourth in the Africa & Middle East region.

Global Momentum in Wind Energy

This achievement comes amid a particularly favorable international landscape for wind energy. The year 2025 marks a turning point, with an additional 165 GW installed globally, reaffirming the acceleration of the energy transition.

Unprecedented Regional Performance

The Africa & Middle East region is also experiencing significant growth. According to the Global Wind Report 2026, it recorded a record level of 2,616 MW of new capacities connected to the grid in 2025, illustrating the gradual increase in investments in the sector.

A Strong Strategic Positioning

By bolstering its wind capacities, Morocco is reinforcing its energy strategy focused on diversification and sustainability. This approach aims to secure energy supply while reducing carbon footprint, particularly amid growing climate challenges.

Through this trajectory, the Kingdom confirms its ambition to play a leading role in the development of renewable energy, both on a continental and regional scale.
