Strengthening Water Supply in Chtouka Aït Baha: Key Hydraulic Projects Launched

On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the Throne Day celebrations, Mohamed Salem Sebti, the governor of Chtouka Aït Baha province, launched several hydraulic projects on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. These initiatives, carried out by the Souss-Massa Regional Multiservices Company (SRM), aim to enhance water security and improve access to drinking water, particularly in mountainous areas.

One of the main projects focuses on connecting the mountainous regions of the province to the drinking water network from the sea water desalination station. This operation is part of a broader program designed to ensure a sustainable water supply, especially in territories facing water stress and diminishing conventional resources.

SRM Souss-Massa also unveiled a mobile iron removal station located in the Targa Ntouchka municipality. With a production capacity of 5 liters per second, this facility will improve the quality of the distributed water and ensure compliance with current health standards. The station is set to be operational in the coming weeks.

The overall cost of this project is estimated at nearly 8 million dirhams. It encompasses technical studies, the procurement and installation of equipment, transportation, and the necessary technical testing before the facility becomes operational, all aimed at ensuring water meets quality and health safety requirements.

These investments are part of the SRM Souss-Massa development program, which aims to bolster hydraulic infrastructure, enhance the efficiency of water supply networks, and address challenges related to water resource scarcity while supporting the development of various municipalities in the Chtouka Aït Baha province.

The SRM Souss-Massa continues to implement vital projects dedicated to drinking water supply, wastewater management, and the distribution of essential services across the Souss-Massa region. These projects, carried out in coordination with provincial authorities and various partners, contribute to reducing regional disparities, particularly in rural and mountainous areas, while strengthening water security in accordance with the Royal High Directions favoring sustainable development.
