Casablanca: Concluding the First Edition of GITEX Future Health Africa Morocco, with AI at the Heart of Health Transformation

A Major Event Dedicated to Digital Health in Africa

The inaugural edition of GITEX Future Health Africa Morocco concluded on Wednesday in Casablanca after three days focused on innovation, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies in healthcare.

Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the event was supported by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health (FM6SS), and KAOUN International.

A Global Crossroads of Health Innovation

This edition brought together:

  • public and private stakeholders,
  • health professionals,
  • researchers,
  • startups,
  • and international investors.

Discussions centered on transforming health systems in Africa, with a particular focus on digitalization and artificial intelligence.

AI as a Lever for Transformation

For the organizers, artificial intelligence is a vital engine for modernizing health systems. Speakers emphasized the necessity for Morocco and Africa to transition from technology consumers to innovative players capable of designing their own solutions.

A Strong Scientific and Academic Momentum

The scientific conference “MedAI 2026,” organized alongside the event, recorded:

  • 180 scientific paper submissions,
  • 33% acceptance rate for papers,
  • participation from international experts from the academic and medical fields.

International Participation and a Growing Ecosystem

According to the organizers, the event brought together:

  • over 200 exhibitors,
  • of which 60% were Moroccan,
  • 40% international,
  • 55 startups,
  • and more than 50 investors representing over $10 billion in assets.

Several hundred B2B meetings were also organized.

Key Partnerships Signed

On the sidelines of the closing, several agreements were signed, notably between FM6SS and players in the pharmaceutical and technology sectors, aimed at:

  • improving screening,
  • enhancing medical skills,
  • and developing innovative solutions in patient care pathways.

A Record of Scientific and Entrepreneurial Achievement

The awards recognized:

  • researchers from UM6SS and international universities,
  • as well as the Moroccan startup Blink Pharma, winner of the Supernova Challenge.

Looking Forward to the 2027 Edition

The next edition of GITEX Future Health Africa Morocco is scheduled for September 28-29, 2027.

This inaugural edition confirms Morocco’s emergence as a regional reference platform for digital health and medical innovation, strengthening the ties between research, industry, and cutting-edge technologies to benefit African health systems.
