The Moroccan Parliament Introduces Students to Democratic Debates at the International Book Fair in Rabat

Parliamentary work simulation sessions have been launched within the Parliament space as part of the 31st edition of the International Book and Publishing Fair in Rabat, in an educational initiative that has been continued for the third consecutive year. This activity aims to bring young people closer to the mechanisms of parliamentary oversight and to strengthen democratic culture.
This initiative is organized by the Moroccan Parliament in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, as well as with regional academies. It is part of an effort to promote citizenship values and encourage political participation among students by simulating oral question sessions in a setting that replicates the actual conditions of Parliament.
An Immersive Experience of Legislative Work
Students representing several regions, including Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Rabat-Sale-Kenitra, and Draa-Tafilalet, participated in these sessions. The roles of deputies and ministers were assigned among them, with the establishment of a presidency bureau, a session secretariat, and a sign language interpretation service.
The session was opened in accordance with constitutional provisions, before addressing an agenda focused on current issues, including digital transition, registration on electoral rolls, and the enhancement of school transportation in rural areas.
Learning Through Practice
Participants showcased notable skills in public speaking and communication, posing precise questions and engaging with answers in a setting close to real parliamentary debates.
Several students expressed their satisfaction with this experience, stating that it helped them better understand the role of Parliament and its operations while developing their expression and dialogue capabilities.
Shaping an Engaged Generation
Officials from the Parliament and the Ministry of National Education emphasized that this initiative serves as an effective tool to connect young people with the legislative institution and to enhance their understanding of its missions.
They also noted that these workshops align with a vision to prepare a generation capable of engaging in public affairs management, thereby strengthening the values of dialogue, listening, and democratic participation.
A Fair as a Learning Space
These sessions continue throughout the International Book and Publishing Fair in Rabat, which also serves as a cultural and educational platform that allows young visitors to discover public institutions and better understand the workings of the state and its structures.
