Opening of the Dar Al Maghreb Pavilion: A Tribute to Moroccan Culture in Doha

As part of the Qatar-Morocco Cultural Year 2024, the Dar Al Maghreb Pavilion was inaugurated today at MIA Park. This new temporary cultural space of 1,300 square meters pays tribute to Morocco’s rich heritage and creativity, drawing inspiration from the Ksar Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

A Journey to the Heart of Moroccan Culture

The Dar Al Maghreb Pavilion, now open to the public, offers an immersive experience through informative exhibitions and cultural activities. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore unique Moroccan creations in a souvenir shop while enjoying traditional mint tea and sweet pastries in a tea room.

Four Thematic Zones

The pavilion is divided into four distinct zones, each highlighting a unique aspect of Morocco’s history and culture:

  1. Land of Confluences: This section celebrates Morocco as a crossroads of civilizations, illustrating the exchanges between North and South, East and West. Visitors will discover the country’s commitment to a sustainable future.
  2. Land of Light: Accessible via a traditional outdoor courtyard, this area offers a sensory experience through spaces adorned with zellige tiles and carved wooden ceilings, showcasing Morocco’s tangible and intangible treasures.
  3. Land of Gathering: This space celebrates the festive Moroccan spirit through traditional equestrian performances and modern festivals. It highlights Morocco’s role as a host for global events, including COP22 and the 2030 World Cup.
  4. Land of Passion: For football enthusiasts, this final section traces the history of Moroccan football from its early clubs to its performance at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, as well as preparations for the 2030 World Cup.

The Dar Al Maghreb Pavilion represents a unique opportunity to discover and celebrate the richness of Moroccan culture within a space that blends tradition and modernity.
