Eid al-Adha: NARSA Calls for Enhanced Vigilance on the Roads

Enhanced Road Safety Measures During Eid Al-Adha
In celebration of Eid Al-Adha, the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) is urging all road users to exercise increased vigilance. This period is traditionally marked by heightened traffic on national roadways, due to the mass movement of families across the country.
NARSA emphasizes the importance of adopting responsible behavior to reduce the risk of accidents, particularly during long journeys and peak travel times.
Strengthened Safety Guidelines for Drivers
The agency reminds drivers to be exceptionally cautious before and during their journeys. Motorists are encouraged to check the mechanical condition of their vehicles, including brakes, tires, lighting, and wipers, to ensure safe driving conditions.
It is also recommended to get adequate rest before hitting the road to avoid fatigue and decreased concentration, which remain major contributing factors to accidents on Moroccan roads.
A Call for Strict Adherence to Traffic Regulations
NARSA insists on compliance with traffic regulations, particularly speed limits, safe distances, and overtaking rules. The agency also urges drivers to adapt their driving to traffic conditions and variations in weather.
Special attention is needed on national roads and highways, where high speeds increase the risk of serious accidents in the event of poor anticipation.
Passengers Also Play a Critical Role in Safety
The recommendations extend to passengers, particularly those using intercity public transport. Wearing seatbelts is strongly advised for all vehicle occupants, including those in the rear seats.
NARSA also highlights the importance of boarding and alighting from coaches only at designated bus stations to limit risky behaviors during travel.
Vulnerable Road Users Urged to Exercise Caution
The agency pays particular attention to two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicle users, who are considered the most exposed to road accidents. They are advised to wear helmets, respect speed limits, and avoid unauthorized technical modifications.
Visibility remains an essential factor, especially at night; hence wearing bright or reflective clothing is necessary.
A National Mobilization to Reduce Accidents
Through this appeal, NARSA reaffirms its commitment to reducing road accidents in Morocco, particularly during festive periods often associated with an increase in incidents.
The agency continues to raise awareness among citizens to sustainably instill a culture of road safety and preserve lives on the Kingdom’s roads.
