The Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Mohamed Saad Berrada, recently met with Anas Ziyati, the President of the Royal Moroccan Table Tennis Federation. The meeting focused on evaluating the achievements of 2025 and presenting the action plan for 2026, alongside the strategic plan that will guide the federation from 2025 to 2028.

This gathering provided an opportunity to assess the current momentum of Moroccan table tennis and the ongoing efforts to enhance its development at both national and international levels.

During the meeting, Minister Berrada commended the work of the federation’s management team, particularly their initiatives aimed at grassroots development, restoring confidence within the sports ecosystem, and organizing national competitions. He also highlighted efforts to boost Morocco’s presence in various international competitions.

He particularly noted their historic achievement at the Senior African Championship held in Tunisia, where Morocco earned its very first bronze medal in this category.

Moreover, Minister Berrada reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting sports federations that have successfully transitioned beyond provisional commissions to establish a stable and effective governance framework. He praised the current leadership of the Royal Moroccan Table Tennis Federation for their significant advancements.

According to the minister, the federation’s trajectory reflects a clear vision aimed at restoring Moroccan table tennis to its rightful place on the continental and international stage. This ambition is founded on enhancing training programs, improving technical support, nurturing youth engagement in the sport, and integrating table tennis into school sports to broaden its participation base.

The meeting also covered preparations for the African Table Tennis Championship, which is set to take place in Tangier this October. Minister Berrada stressed the importance of mobilizing all relevant stakeholders to ensure the success of this major continental event.

He reiterated the ministry’s full support for the championship, viewing it as a crucial opportunity to promote Morocco’s sporting excellence and showcase the country’s organizational capabilities on the African level.

In response, the Royal Moroccan Table Tennis Federation expressed its satisfaction with the support received from the ministry. They emphasized that this institutional collaboration serves as a vital lever for continuing the development efforts of the sport and for achieving new milestones on both regional and continental stages.
