The Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, chaired the opening of the second capacity-building workshop organized jointly by the European Union and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on Wednesday in Rabat. This workshop is focused on enhancing knowledge of female entrepreneurship and women’s access to financing.

Morocco Highlights Its Efforts for Women’s Economic Inclusion

In her speech, Nadia Fettah illuminated various initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Economy and Finance to bolster women’s economic and financial inclusion.

The Minister specifically highlighted actions aimed at adapting financing and guarantee mechanisms to meet the needs of women entrepreneurs, developing dedicated support systems, and improving coordination between public institutions, the financial sector, and international partners.

Gender Data as a Strategic Lever for Public Policy

Nadia Fettah also emphasized the importance of producing and utilizing gender-disaggregated data, viewed as an essential tool for guiding public policies and accelerating women’s economic inclusion.

According to her, better availability of data not only helps identify the obstacles faced by women entrepreneurs, but also enables the design of more tailored and effective responses.

Towards Concrete Recommendations for the MENA Region

At the conclusion of her address, the Minister urged participants to develop practical and actionable recommendations that could be shared and implemented across all countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

This workshop thus represents a new step in strengthening regional cooperation aimed at the economic empowerment of women and promoting more inclusive entrepreneurship in the Southern Mediterranean.
