MMI Ammunition Strengthens Its Production of NATO-Compliant Ammunition in Morocco

The defense industry sector in Morocco is continuing its growth with the announcement from MMI Ammunition about strengthening its production capabilities at its industrial site in Sidi Yahya. The company states that its munitions now meet NATO standards, a development that could enhance its integration into international supply chains within the sector.

According to information released by the company, its factory currently manufactures six main categories of ammunition, including 155 mm artillery shells and 30×173 mm munitions. These products are designed in accordance with NATO’s STANAG standards and hold ISO 9001 quality certification.

The company’s portfolio includes M107-A3, M150, and M481 munitions, as well as the M662 UMACS modular charge system. MMI Ammunition also produces M200 TP-T and M201 HE-T ammunition, which are intended for automatic cannons such as the Bushmaster II Mk44 and Mauser MK30, to meet the demands of armed forces using Western-standard artillery systems.

The company specifies that its various models serve a range of operational functions. The M481 shell offers a range of up to 31 kilometers, while the M201 HE-T munition is designed for missions against lightly armored vehicles, fortifications, and other military targets. On the other hand, the M200 TP-T is crafted for training, maintaining ballistic characteristics close to those of operational munitions.

MMI Ammunition also notes that its industrial complex spans over 20,000 square meters and encompasses all manufacturing, testing, and quality control stages, in compliance with NATO’s technical and regulatory standards.

However, the company does not disclose the identities of its clients or the markets for its exports. Additionally, no official information has been released regarding a potential use of these munitions by the Royal Armed Forces; such details remain confidential.

According to the Spanish daily La Razón, MMI Ammunition is reportedly supplying munitions to several NATO member armies. The newspaper indicates that the company, headquartered in MidParc, Casablanca, with a manufacturing unit in the Sidi Yahya free zone, manufactures 30×173 mm munitions in compliance with STANAG standards. La Razón also reminds readers that Morocco has been a NATO partner since June 2004 and continues to gradually adapt its Royal Armed Forces (FAR) to the Alliance’s interoperability standards.
