Morocco Sets to Modernize Transport Infrastructure with New Airport-Train Link
Morocco is on the verge of a significant leap in modernizing its transport infrastructure with the launch of a strategic project aimed at connecting Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca to the high-speed rail (HSR) network, as part of the broader initiatives outlined in the 2027 Finance Bill.
The project includes the construction of a new multimodal train station that meets international standards, enabling seamless connections between high-speed trains, regional trains, and road transport networks. This infrastructure is designed to enhance interconnectivity among various modes of transport and streamline travel for passengers.
This connection will improve accessibility to the airport from the main economic and tourist hubs of the Kingdom, particularly Tangier and Marrakech, while also strengthening its integration into the rail network in the Casablanca region.
This initiative is part of the “Airports 2030” strategy, which aims to increase the capacity of Moroccan airports to 80 million passengers per year by 2030 to support the anticipated growth in air traffic.
Within this framework, several airport platforms will undergo expansion and modernization, including Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, Marrakech-Menara, Fès-Saïss, Agadir Al Massira, and Tangier Ibn Battouta, following the completion of the Rabat-Salé airport renovations.
Simultaneously, Royal Air Maroc continues to enhance its development plan, projecting an expansion of its fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037, along with the introduction of over 100 new international routes. This program also encompasses the growth of the domestic network, featuring 46 domestic routes to bolster connectivity among the different regions of the Kingdom.
Through these investments, Morocco aims to solidify its position as a regional hub for air and rail transport, focusing on faster, integrated, and sustainable mobility to support tourism, business, and international exchanges.
