ASMEX Unveils New Roadmap to Strengthen Moroccan Exports

Moroccan Association of Exporters (ASMEX) Unveils New Strategic Roadmap

The Moroccan Association of Exporters (ASMEX) has officially announced its new strategic roadmap, aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Moroccan companies on the international stage and expanding the Kingdom’s base of exporters.

In a gathering that brought together leaders from key economic sectors, public officials, and representatives from institutions involved in the export value chain, the ASMEX Board of Directors introduced the overarching goals of the new presidency.

On this occasion, Sonia Mezzour, president of ASMEX, unveiled a program focused on the major structural challenges faced by Moroccan exporting companies. The main guidelines of this new strategy received approval from the Board members.

A primary objective is to increase the number of active exporters in Morocco, with a target of raising this figure from 6,000 to 10,000 exporters by 2030. This initiative is expected to benefit various regions of the Kingdom and a wider array of economic sectors.

The strategy aims to encourage the emergence of new exporters while supporting companies already operating in international markets to consolidate their positions, diversify their outlets, and capture new markets.

To achieve these goals, ASMEX will focus its efforts around three priority areas: overcoming obstacles, financing exports, and conquering markets. These priorities will hinge on simplifying and digitizing export procedures, securing access to financing, mitigating risks, bolstering economic intelligence, leveraging data, and fostering international business development.

The new leadership also plans to modernize the governance of the Confederation, prioritizing agility, collaboration, and effectiveness. Proposed changes include reducing the duration of mandates from five years to three and creating a general vice-presidential position, which may be assigned to Abdelkader Boukhriss amid forthcoming statutory changes.

Through this new roadmap, ASMEX aims to strengthen its role in supporting Moroccan companies in their international development while contributing to making exports an even more significant driver of the Kingdom’s economic growth.

The stated goal is to create a more favorable ecosystem for both established exporters and regional SMEs, as well as first-time exporters and companies with high international potential.
