Tanger Med: Revenue Reaches 2.48 Billion Dirhams in the First Half of the Year
Tanger Med Port Authority (TMPA) continues its growth trajectory into 2026. The authority responsible for managing the Tanger Med 1, Passengers and Ferries, and Tanger Med 2 ports recorded a revenue of , marking an 8.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
The growth accelerated in the second quarter, driven by an increase in throughput and strengthened maritime connections at the port complex.
Between April and June, TMPA generated 1.293 billion dirhams in revenue, compared to 1.162 billion dirhams a year earlier. This quarterly revenue reflects an increase of 11.2%.
Tanger Med Handles 84 Million Tons in Six Months
The revenue growth coincides with increased port activity.
During the first six months of 2026, facilities managed by TMPA handled 84 million tons of goods, representing a 6% year-over-year increase.
The second quarter alone accounted for 45 million tons, confirming the sustained momentum of the port complex.
This growth occurs as Tanger Med continues to enhance its connections with various regions worldwide and expands its role in international logistics chains.
New Maritime Routes Strengthen Tanger Med
The first half of the year was notably marked by the launch of new maritime services.
The company ONE initiated a new MAX service connecting the Mediterranean to West Africa.
Meanwhile, Maersk introduced the SLA Baltic Sea service to strengthen the link between the Mediterranean and the Baltic Sea.
X-Press Feeders also reorganized its Mediterranean network’s rotation by integrating the CTX service into the TYX NB.
These new connections contribute to reinforcing Tanger Med’s position as a hub between major international maritime routes.
GNV Aurora Makes First Stop at Tanger Med
The activity at the port complex was also highlighted by the arrival of the GNV Aurora, a new-generation ferry operating on liquefied natural gas.
This call signifies the diversification of services welcomed by the complex and accompanies the gradual shift in maritime transport toward lower-emission solutions.
Additionally, TMPA organized several joint exercises to strengthen emergency preparedness among stakeholders and enhance operational coordination.
MEDHUB Welcomes New Companies
The logistics platform MEDHUB is also continuing its development.
Several companies joined the logistics zone in the first half of 2026, including Transports Marocains, Ipsen Logistics, Aramex, and La Voie Express Group.
These new establishments strengthen MEDHUB’s role in organizing the flow of goods around the Tanger Med complex and supporting businesses operating in international trade.
Towards a National Portal for Foreign Trade
TMPA and the National Port Agency have also initiated collaboration to deploy a national portal dedicated to foreign trade-related procedures.
The goal is to contribute to the digitalization of processes and simplify exchanges between various stakeholders involved in import and export operations.
This initiative aligns with the ongoing digital transformation of Moroccan port and logistics services.
194 Million Dirhams in Investments
To support the development of its infrastructure, TMPA has allocated 194 million dirhams for investments as of the end of June 2026.
These expenditures have primarily focused on port infrastructure, roadworks, various networks, and IT equipment.
These investments aim to maintain the operating capacity of the complex and accommodate the increase in goods flow.
Financing Debt Decreases by 2.4%
On the financial side, the financing debt of Tanger Med Port Authority stood at 9.1 billion dirhams at the end of June.
This figure shows a decrease of 2.4% compared to the end of 2025.
The increase in revenue, combined with the rise in handled volumes and ongoing investments, confirms the dynamism of the Tanger Med complex in the first half of 2026.
With 84 million tons of goods processed in six months and new maritime connections, Tanger Med continues to strengthen its position as one of Morocco’s main logistics platforms and a strategic point on major international trade routes.
