CITIC Dicastal Integrates Its Kénitra Facility into a Global Call for 200,000 Tons of Aluminum Alloy
The Chinese group CITIC Dicastal, known for manufacturing aluminum wheels and automotive components, is strengthening the role of its Moroccan facility within its global industrial chain. The company has incorporated its Kénitra complex into a new international supplier selection campaign for 200,000 tons of A356.2 aluminum alloy, destined for several of its production units abroad.
Launched on August 27, the sourcing initiative explicitly mentions the “Dicastal Morocco Plant”, designated with the internal code 2610, alongside various facilities located in Mexico, North America, and Germany.
The A356.2 alloy, composed of aluminum, silicon, and magnesium, is primarily used in the production of cast automotive parts. Selected suppliers will need to meet the quality standards defined by CITIC Dicastal and be capable of aligning with the production schedules of its various industrial units.
Suppliers Capable of Managing Logistics to Morocco
For supplies destined for Kénitra, the Chinese group is seeking suppliers who can handle international logistics operations and have a firm grasp of import and customs procedures in Morocco.
Applicants must be able to directly oversee or assist in the various stages, from exportation from China to international transportation and customs clearance at the destination.
Once qualified, selected companies will be able to directly sign contracts with the relevant industrial entities.
CITIC Dicastal clarifies that this sourcing initiative is solely a supplier selection and qualification phase. It does not yet lead to a definitive assignment of contracts or price setting.
Strict Qualification Criteria
Applicants must be legal entities registered in China with a minimum registered capital of 100 million yuan, approximately 128 million dirhams.
They must also have been established for at least one year and possess references for supplying similar products within the past two years.
Several industrial certifications are also required, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949, while certification from the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) may also be requested depending on the applications.
The registration period for this procedure is set to close on September 7, 2026.
Kénitra: A Major Industrial Hub for CITIC Dicastal
The inclusion of the Moroccan site in this international sourcing initiative comes as the Kénitra complex has steadily established itself as one of CITIC Dicastal’s primary industrial hubs abroad.
Located in the Atlantic Free Zone of Kénitra, the complex boasts an annual capacity of 6 million aluminum wheels and 5 million cast aluminum automotive parts, according to data provided by CITIC Limited.
The group launched its first two Moroccan plants dedicated to wheel production in 2019 and 2020, followed by a third facility focused on lightweight aluminum automotive components.
This latter facility has a nominal capacity of 5 million parts per year, further solidifying Morocco’s positioning within the Chinese group’s international industrial strategy.
In its 2024 annual report, CITIC Limited noted that the Moroccan complex is among the 30 key industrial bases of its subsidiary across China, America, Europe, and Africa.
A Global Capacity of 95 Million Wheels
Internationally, CITIC Dicastal is recognized as one of the leading manufacturers of aluminum automotive wheels.
According to the latest data released by CITIC Limited, the group has a production capacity of approximately 95 million wheels and over 210,000 tons of cast automotive parts per year.
The integration of Kénitra into this new global procurement campaign illustrates the increasing significance of the Moroccan site within CITIC Dicastal’s industrial framework.
It also confirms the progressive upgrading of Kénitra’s automotive ecosystem, which is now more integrated into the production and supply chains of major equipment manufacturers worldwide.
