Aerospace: American Exports to Morocco Surge by 35%
Aviation exchanges between the United States and Morocco continue to show remarkable growth. Between January and July 2026, American exports of aerospace products to the Kingdom reached $1.006 billion, compared to $743 million during the same period in 2025. This represents an increase of 35.4% year-on-year, according to data released on September 3 by the U.S. Census Bureau.
This growth underscores Morocco’s increasing importance as a market for American aerospace products in Africa.
Over One Billion Dollars in Exports in Seven Months
In the first seven months of 2026, American companies exported $1.006 billion worth of aerospace products to Morocco. The increase is particularly notable compared to the $743 million registered a year earlier.
The upward trend continued throughout the summer. In July alone, American exports to Morocco reached $148 million, up from $118 million in June.
In the opposite direction, the United States imported $124 million in Moroccan aerospace products since the beginning of the year, compared to $102 million during the first seven months of 2025, showing an increase of 21.6%.
In total, the aerospace trade balance between the two countries shows a surplus of $882 million in favor of the United States for the period covering January to July 2026.
Morocco: America’s Top African Market
With over one billion dollars in purchases in seven months, Morocco has established itself as the leading African market for the United States in the aerospace products included in this classification.
The gap with other major African markets is significant. American exports of aerospace products reached $338 million to Egypt, $308 million to South Africa, $249 million to Nigeria, and $230 million to Ethiopia.
Thus, Morocco’s level of exports is nearly three times that of American exports to Egypt during the same period.
In July alone, American sales to Morocco amounted to $148 million, far exceeding those to Nigeria at $89 million, South Africa at $40 million, and both Egypt and Ethiopia at $23 million each.
Growth Twice That of the American Sector
The growth recorded in Morocco is notable not only for its magnitude but also for its velocity, which is higher than that of overall American aerospace exports.
From January to July 2026, American aerospace exports totaled $109.517 billion, up from $93.331 billion a year prior, marking an increase of 17.3%.
For Morocco, the growth rate is an impressive 35.4%. The Moroccan market is thus expanding at a pace nearly double that of total American aerospace exports.
This progress comes at a time when the Moroccan aerospace sector continues to strengthen its integration into international value chains, particularly through the development of industrial activities and exchanges with major global players.
Data That Do Not Distinguish Between Civil and Military Uses
The American classification used for these statistics encompasses a relatively broad range of products. This includes new civil or military aircraft and helicopters, turbojets, flight simulators, autopilots, and some space equipment.
However, the published data do not allow for a precise determination of what portion of the exports destined for Morocco pertains to civil aviation versus military acquisitions.
Weapons and ammunition are separately categorized in distinct statistical classifications. No significant flows to Morocco appear in this category, rounding to the nearest million dollars, between January and July 2026.
Nevertheless, this data does not lead to a conclusion regarding the total absence of military deliveries. Some equipment intended for the armed forces, notably new military aircraft, specific engines, or flight simulators, is indeed included in the aerospace category utilized in U.S. trade statistics.
The surge in exchanges clearly confirms a trend: Morocco now occupies a leading position among the African markets for the American aerospace industry, with exports exceeding one billion dollars in the first seven months of 2026.
