Morocco: Public Investment Reaches 400 Billion Dirhams by 2027

The overall investment effort from the public sector in Morocco is expected to reach 400 billion dirhams by 2027, according to the presentation note for the draft finance law (PLF) for the upcoming year, published by the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Public Performance.

This amount will be allocated among public institutions and enterprises, which includes the Mohammed VI Fund for Investment, the general state budget, special treasury accounts, and local communities.

Public institutions and enterprises will mobilize 251 billion dirhams, while 124 billion dirhams will be dedicated to the general budget, special treasury accounts, and autonomously managed state services, after accounting for the transfers between these entities. Local communities will benefit from 25 billion dirhams.

The investment programs of public institutions and enterprises will primarily focus on sectors such as energy, telecommunications, housing, agriculture, electricity, drinking water, phosphates and their derivatives, as well as highways and air, maritime, and rail transport.

Investments financed by special treasury accounts will particularly concern road infrastructure, agriculture, water and forests, audiovisual projects, housing, justice, culture and sports, as well as socio-educational programs.

For their part, local communities will direct their investments towards improving the quality of life for citizens by enhancing road and sanitation networks, constructing cultural and sports facilities, developing markets and public buildings, as well as creating gardens and green spaces.
