Partnership between PortNet and ONSSA: Launch of a Digital Service for the Control of Food and Plant Imports

The PortNet platform, in partnership with the National Food Safety Authority (ONSSA), has launched a new integrated digital service dedicated to the control of food and plant product imports. This initiative is part of the national strategy for digital transformation and the modernization of foreign trade procedures.

A Unified Platform to Simplify Import Procedures

Operational since mid-June through the Moroccan foreign trade procedures portal, this new service offers economic operators the ability to submit their requests, upload the necessary documents, and track the progress of their files online.

The main objective is to centralize operations on a single platform to simplify administrative procedures, reduce processing times, and improve the efficiency of import-related services.

An Integrated System to Enhance Traceability and Control Performance

The new system is based on a direct interconnection between the PortNet platform and the ONSSA information system. This integration allows for instant data exchange and better coordination among the various stakeholders involved in sanitary and phytosanitary controls.

It also helps limit double data entry, enhances operational traceability, and provides greater visibility for importers regarding the status of their files.

Streamlining Exchanges and Reducing Logistics Times

Thanks to this digitalization, the procedures for the passage of goods through ports, airports, and border checkpoints are expected to be significantly expedited. The reduction in processing times will improve the flow of trade and decrease the dwell time of goods.

This evolution should also enhance the efficiency of sanitary controls while ensuring compliance with current standards.

A National Strategy for Administrative Modernization

This project is part of a broader initiative aimed at modernizing foreign trade services and digitizing administrative procedures. Its goals include enhancing transparency, efficiency, and the competitiveness of the national economy.

Thus, Morocco continues its efforts to accelerate the digital transformation of its strategic sectors and improve the business environment.

Support and Training for Economic Operators

The authorities responsible for the project have announced the establishment of technical support for users during the launch phase, alongside the organization of training sessions for economic operators.

These actions aim to facilitate the adoption of the new platform and ensure optimal utilization of the service in daily import operations.
