In a press conference held on Wednesday in Casablanca, just a day before the match against South Africa, he emphasized that the previous matches played by the Lion Cubs of the Atlas had bolstered the team’s confidence. "We will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of reaching the semifinals," he stated.
The Moroccan coach noted that preparations for this encounter were progressing smoothly, with particular attention given to analyzing both the strengths and weaknesses of the opponent. He also highlighted the significance of the mental aspect in such decisive matches. "The South African team is of high quality, featuring talented players," he remarked, while expressing his belief in his team’s ability to overcome this challenge.
Baha also stressed that even though the team is composed of players from major clubs competing at the highest level, victory is not merely a matter of name recognition. "It’s the team that puts in the most effort and makes sacrifices on the field that will prevail," he asserted.
On his part, Soufiane El Idrissi, goalkeeper for the Lion Cubs of the Atlas, expressed his satisfaction after their qualification for the AFCON quarterfinals. He underscored the team’s spirit and determination to do whatever it takes to reach the semifinals and continue their quest for the continental title. "The atmosphere within the team is excellent, and we are all committed to following the coach’s instructions and tactical plan," he affirmed.
South Africa’s head coach, Vela Khumalo, also addressed the media, stressing that his team’s mission against Morocco "will not be easy." He acknowledged the challenges ahead and underscored the need for improved offensive efficiency and collective spirit to hope for a victory. He also praised the high-quality facilities, stadiums, and training centers made available to the teams for this competition.
