OCP: Shipments of Moroccan Phosphates to India

Moroccan Group OCP Strengthens Its Presence in India’s Fertilizer Supply Chain
The Moroccan group OCP is boosting its foothold in the supply chain of India’s fertilizer industry. The Paradip port in Odisha state confirmed the arrival of the tanker vessel Richmond Park, which is carrying 12,597 tons of phosphoric acid from Jorf Lasfar. Additional shipments of phosphoric acid and raw phosphate are also scheduled for arrival in the coming days.
Cargo of 12,597 Tons Arrives in Paradip
The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) confirmed on Sunday, October 25, 2026, that the Richmond Park arrived at 9 PM the previous day. The ship is transporting 12,597 tons of phosphoric acid loaded at the Moroccan port of Jorf Lasfar, on behalf of Paradeep Phosphates Limited (PPL), an Indian company specializing in fertilizer production.
According to the port bulletin published on October 24, the vessel was initially expected to arrive at 6 PM. The report listed Jorf Lasfar as the loading port, Las Palmas in the Canary Islands as the last stop, and Haldia in West Bengal as the next destination.
The Richmond Park measures 149 meters in length, 24.03 meters in width, and has a declared draft of 10.25 meters. Its reception at Paradip was handled by the maritime agent AGS.
As of 6 AM on October 25, the ship was still at anchor, awaiting a berthing assignment. It was classified among vessels that were not yet ready for reception according to port standards. On the bulletin for Monday, October 26, the ship was listed among those ready to dock, with a scheduled entry at the multipurpose terminal at 10 AM. However, the actual docking and start of unloading still required confirmation.
OCP and Zuari at the Heart of PPL’s Shareholding
The arrival of this shipment is part of a longstanding industrial and capital relationship between the Moroccan group OCP and Paradeep Phosphates Limited. The Indian company is majority-owned by Zuari Maroc Phosphates Private Limited (ZMPPL), a joint venture held equally by OCP and Indian fertilizer producer Zuari Agro Chemicals.
According to share acquisition disclosures published on June 18 and 19, 2026, to the Indian National Stock Exchange, ZMPPL held 50.37% of PPL’s share capital.
This stake accompanies a long-standing relationship in the supply of raw materials for fertilizer production. In its annual report for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, Paradeep Phosphates indicated reliance on its strategic relationship with OCP to secure its supply chains and benefit from certain cost advantages.
PPL’s Production Capacity of 3.7 Million Tons
According to its institutional presentation, Paradeep Phosphates has a total fertilizer production capacity of 3.7 million tons per year, spread across three industrial sites. The Paradip facility accounts for 1.8 million tons, followed by Zuarinagar in Goa with 1.2 million tons, and the Mangaluru site in Karnataka with a capacity of 700,000 tons.
The company primarily manufactures complex phosphated fertilizers and diammonium phosphate. Phosphoric acid is a crucial raw material for producing these fertilizers, highlighting the importance of supply flows from Morocco.
A Second Shipment of Phosphoric Acid Expected from Jorf Lasfar
The port schedule published on October 26 also mentions the anticipated arrival of the Chemroad Sakura, another tanker carrying phosphoric acid from Jorf Lasfar.
Measuring 179.53 meters in length and 27.43 meters in width, this vessel is scheduled to arrive in Paradip on the same day at noon with a cargo of 15,750 tons intended for PPL. The bulletin indicated a draft of 11.60 meters, with Las Palmas as the last stop and Haldia as the next destination.
In the latest updates available, the Chemroad Sakura remained listed among the expected vessels, with its effective arrival and cargo receipt still awaiting confirmation.
Over 113,000 Tons of Raw Phosphate Expected from Laâyoune
The future arrival program also includes two cargoes of raw phosphate departing from Laâyoune in southern Morocco to Paradeep Phosphates.
The Trans Autumn is expected on November 2 at 8 AM, carrying 54,450 tons of raw phosphate, while the GW Alpha is set to follow later the same day at 6 PM with an additional 58,680 tons.
In total, these two shipments represent 113,130 tons of raw phosphate intended for the Indian company. As with other scheduled movements, these anticipated arrivals remain subject to confirmation by the Paradip Port Authority.
These flows illustrate the role of Moroccan phosphated raw materials in supplying the Indian fertilizer industry and the importance of the industrial ties between OCP and its Indian partner. The announced volumes reflect the intensity of exchanges, although the actual execution of the scheduled port operations is still to be validated.
