Royal Air Maroc Strengthens Its Casablanca-São Paulo Route and Prepares to Launch a Service to Rio de Janeiro

Royal Air Maroc Expands Its Presence in South America with New Direct Flights

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) continues its growth in South America, launching a fifth weekly direct flight between Casablanca and São Paulo on Thursday, October 30. The national airline also plans to introduce a new route to Rio de Janeiro by the end of 2027, with the goal of increasing the number of weekly flights from São Paulo to seven by 2028.

This expansion is part of RAM’s international development plan, aimed at strengthening Morocco’s presence in the Brazilian market and enhancing connectivity to over 100 destinations in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia through its Casablanca hub.

The new flight frequency is operated using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to accommodate the rising demand, especially as the European winter season approaches. Flights from São Paulo are now scheduled for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. In the Casablanca-São Paulo direction, departures are set for Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

According to data shared by the airline, this route transported nearly 80,000 passengers in both directions in 2025, achieving an average occupancy rate of 84% and punctuality of 98%.

This development also aligns with the growth of tourism exchanges between the two countries. Morocco welcomed 19.8 million international tourists in 2025, including 60,000 Brazilian visitors, marking a 35% increase from the previous year.

This expansion is part of RAM’s strategic plan for 2023-2037, which aims to increase the fleet to 200 aircraft and eventually reach a capacity of 32 million passengers annually, up from 7.5 million in 2024. It also supports the Kingdom’s ambitions for improved air connectivity, particularly in anticipation of the 2030 World Cup.
