Centrale Danone Launches “Milk-Co” in Fkih Ben Salah, an Industrial Innovation Worth 60.2 Million Dirhams

Centrale Danone has taken a significant step towards modernizing the Moroccan dairy industry. On Wednesday, July 1, the company inaugurated its new manufacturing process, “Milk-Co,” at its facility in Fkih Ben Salah. This innovative technology was developed with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The ceremony was attended by Imad Bakkali, CEO of Centrale Danone, Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, and local authorities.

An Investment of Over 60 Million Dirhams

This project is part of four investment agreements between Centrale Danone and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, representing a total investment of 60.2 million dirhams aimed at enhancing the group’s industrial innovation capabilities in Morocco.

This new unit is based on “Milk Cracking” technology, which combines microfiltration, ultrafiltration, and nanofiltration processes to separate and enhance the different components of milk.

A Technology That Adds Value to Moroccan Milk

With the “Milk-Co” process, Centrale Danone can extract proteins, lactose, and minerals from the milk collected from Moroccan farmers. These components are then used in the production of yogurt, cheese, and protein-enriched dairy beverages.

This innovation allows for the optimized enhancement of every liter of locally produced milk, reduces dependence on certain imported ingredients, and creates additional value in Morocco.

With this achievement, Centrale Danone becomes the first dairy producer in the Kingdom to master this technology at an industrial scale, joining a select group of Danone subsidiaries that possess this expertise.

Supporting Farmers and Strengthening Industrial Sovereignty

The project relies on a vast network of over 40,000 partner farmers, 1,150 collection centers, and four industrial sites across the Kingdom.

By improving the processing of locally produced milk, “Milk-Co” aims to provide new opportunities for producers, enhance the competitiveness of the dairy sector, and contribute to Morocco’s industrial sovereignty.

Centrale Danone’s CEO, Imad Bakkali, highlighted that this innovation showcases the company’s ability to develop and industrialize cutting-edge technologies in Morocco while enhancing the work of partner farmers, particularly in the strategic milk basin of Fkih Ben Salah.

An Innovation for Sustainable Industry

On his part, Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, stated that “Milk-Co” reflects the Kingdom’s ambition to build a more innovative and competitive industry, one that is increasingly focused on import substitution.

Beyond its economic impact, this new technology is also expected to improve resource efficiency, particularly water usage, while contributing to the reduction of the carbon footprint of Centrale Danone’s industrial activities.

Through this project, Centrale Danone reaffirms its commitment to innovation, the enhancement of local production, and the sustainable development of the Moroccan dairy sector.
