Morocco and France Strengthen Their Digital Partnership in Artificial Intelligence

Morocco and France are set to take a significant step forward in their digital cooperation by strengthening their partnership in the fields of digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI). Both countries aspire to foster innovation, enhance their digital sovereignty, and support technological changes on an international scale.
On the sidelines of the inaugural Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence Governance held in Geneva, Moroccan Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, met with her French counterpart responsible for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Affairs, Anne Le Hénanff.
A Cooperation Focused on Innovation and Digital Skills
The discussions covered several strategic areas, including strengthening research and innovation, developing digital skills, supporting startups, and accelerating the integration of AI solutions into the economy and public services.
The two officials also exchanged views on challenges related to digital governance, technological infrastructure, and digital sovereignty while exploring new cooperation opportunities based on the sharing of expertise and joint innovation among institutions and economic actors.
A Shared Vision for Responsible AI
Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni emphasized that Morocco and France share a common vision for the development of artificial intelligence centered on competitiveness, reducing technological dependency, and promoting a human-centered, responsible AI.
The minister also announced a new bilateral meeting to be held in Rabat in mid-July to continue the discussions initiated. This cooperation will notably focus on personal data protection, cybersecurity, and integrating ethical principles into the development and use of artificial intelligence technologies.
A Strategic Partnership for the Future
On her part, Anne Le Hénanff reminded that the digital partnership between the two countries encompasses several strategic domains, including innovation, cloud computing, and the deployment of artificial intelligence within administrations and businesses.
The French official applauded Morocco’s growing role in the development of digital ecosystems in Africa, highlighting the convergence of the two countries’ visions in favor of technology that respects citizens’ rights and digital sovereignty.
This collaboration illustrates the shared willingness of Rabat and Paris to evolve their digital cooperation into a strategic partnership based on innovation, skills transfer, and the development of high-value technological solutions.
