CHAN 2024: Morocco Secures Second Place and Will Face DR Congo in Group Final

The Congolese selection of local players triumphed over Angola with a score of 2-0 on Thursday in Nairobi during the fourth matchday of Group A of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024. This victory allowed Morocco, which defeated Zambia earlier in the day (3-1), to secure second place in the group due to a more potent attack.
At the end of this matchday, Kenya remains at the top with 7 points, despite not playing. Morocco and the Democratic Republic of Congo each have 6 points and identical goal differences (+3). However, the Atlas Lions lead the Congolese team thanks to a greater number of goals scored (5 for Morocco, against 4 for the DRC).
The two teams eliminated from the tournament are Angola, which finished with 4 points after playing all its matches, and Zambia, which exits the tournament with zero points.
The Congolese goals were scored by Jephte Kitambala Bola in the 58th minute and Mokonzi Katumbwe in the 70th. For Morocco, the victory over Zambia was marked by goals from Mohamed Hrimat (45+2), Oussama Lamlioui (67), and Sabir Bougrine (90+5), while Andrew Phiri scored a consolation goal for Zambia in the 70th minute.
