Forest Fires: Extreme Risk in Six Provinces of Morocco
National Agency of Water and Forests (ANEF) Issues Fire Risk Bulletin for September 11-15
The National Agency of Water and Forests (ANEF) released its forest fire risk bulletin (BRIF) on Friday, covering the period from September 11 to 15. The report indicates an extreme risk level in six provinces of the Kingdom, while 24 other provinces have been classified as having a high risk level.
Six Provinces Under Extreme Risk
The highest risk level applies to the provinces of Fahs-Anjra, Tangier-Assilah, Taounate, Taza, Essaouira, and Taroudant. In these areas, the prevailing conditions significantly increase the likelihood of the initiation and rapid spread of forest fires.
Given the danger levels recorded in these regions, ANEF strongly recommends maximum vigilance throughout the duration of the bulletin.
24 Provinces Under Increased Surveillance
In addition, a high risk has been identified in 24 provinces, including Kenitra, Rabat, Salé, Skhirate-Témara, Béni Mellal, Settat, and Agadir-Ida-Outanane. The increasing number of areas under significant risk levels calls for heightened awareness among the public and individuals visiting forested regions.
ANEF Urges Extreme Caution
In light of this situation, the National Agency of Water and Forests urges local residents, holidaymakers, and visitors to exercise the utmost caution. Professionals working in forested areas are also impacted by these recommendations.
ANEF particularly encourages all individuals present in or near forests to take all necessary precautions to avoid any behavior that might trigger a fire.
This vigilance is especially critical during periods of heightened fire risk, as even the smallest ignition source can lead to the rapid spread of flames under unfavorable conditions.
