Fath Union Sport Falls to Rwandan Police Club in African Volleyball Championship

Rabat’s Fath Union Sport (FUS) faced a setback on Friday night, losing to the Rwandan Police Club by a score of three sets to one in their match for the second day of the group stage of the African Club Champions Volleyball Championship (men’s category), taking place in Rwanda from April 22 to May 3.

The Moroccan team started the match strong, winning the first set 25-19, showcasing a solid and promising performance.

Rwandan Response Proves Decisive

The second set was characterized by a high level of intensity and a competitive balance between both teams, with the Rwandans narrowly taking the set 28-26, thus leveling the score. Buoyed by this momentum, the Rwandan team continued their strong performance to claim the third and fourth sets with scores of 25-20 and 25-21, sealing their victory.

Group Standing Affected

As a result of this match, the Rwandan Police took the lead in Group C with six points, tied with the Ghanaian Army team. Meanwhile, FUS dropped to third place with three points, complicating their chances of qualification.

Competition Format and Stakes

This edition of the tournament features 24 teams divided into four groups. The top four teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, promising fierce competition in the upcoming days.

A Continental and Global Stakes

Beyond competing for the African title, the winner of the championship will earn a spot in the Club World Championship, representing the African continent on the international stage.
