Gabon: Moroccan group CIMAF invests over 40 million euros to strengthen its industrial presence

Moroccan group CIMAF (Ciments de l’Afrique) continues its expansion across the continent with a significant investment in Gabon aimed at strengthening its industrial capabilities and supporting the growth of the construction sector in the country.
Through an investment of over 40 million euros, the Moroccan cement manufacturer plans to modernize its Owendo plant and commission a third production line. This project aims to meet the growing demand for construction materials driven by numerous infrastructure and housing projects initiated in Gabon.
This expansion will significantly increase CIMAF’s production capacity, expected to reach around 1.85 million tons of cement per year, well above the current market demand in Gabon. The goal is to ensure the country’s self-sufficiency while opening up export opportunities to neighboring Central African markets.
The operation is also part of a new dynamic of partnership between the company and Gabonese authorities. The government of Libreville is considering increasing its stake in CIMAF’s local subsidiary to promote shared governance and stronger national industrial integration.
For the group led by Anas Sefrioui, this investment reflects a strategy focused on African markets, viewed as long-term growth engines due to significant needs in urbanization, infrastructure, and housing.
This new initiative confirms the rising influence of Moroccan companies in Central Africa and reinforces Morocco’s role as a major investor in the continent’s industrial development.
