Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra: The Region Invests 100 Million Dirhams in a National School of Advanced Technologies

Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra Holds Ordinary July Session
The Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra Regional Council held its regular session for the month of July on Monday in Laâyoune, presided over by Sidi Hamdi Ould Errachid, in the presence of the region’s wali and governor of Laâyoune province, Abdeslam Bekrate.
This meeting was marked by the adoption of several significant projects, particularly in the fields of higher education, historical memory, and regional development.
A National School of Advanced Technologies to be Established in Laâyoune
Among the main decisions adopted was the signing of a partnership agreement for the creation and equipping of a National School of Advanced Technologies in Laâyoune.
The total cost of this project is estimated at 100 million dirhams, with 30 million dirhams to be financed by the regional council.
This future school aims to enhance the higher education training offer in high-tech fields and to meet the growing demand for qualified skills in the job market.
A Space Dedicated to the Memory of Resistance in Boujdour
The regional council also approved a partnership agreement for the construction of a space dedicated to the historical memory of resistance and liberation in the province of Boujdour.
The region’s financial contribution to this project amounts to 1.5 million dirhams. This initiative aims to preserve and promote the national historical heritage while strengthening the transmission of memory to future generations.
Education Sector at the Heart of Discussions
During this session, council members also attended a presentation about the state of education in the region.
The directors of the Regional Academy of Education and Training (AREF) and the Higher School of Technology presented key indicators of the sector, ongoing projects, and future perspectives for the development of educational and university offerings in Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra.

Through these new decisions, the regional council reaffirms its commitment to investing in human capital, strengthening higher education infrastructure, and preserving the historical heritage of the region.
