Strengthening Security Cooperation: Morocco and Liberia Unite in Memorandum of Understanding
The General Director of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, has signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance security cooperation with Coleman Gregory, the Inspector General of the National Police of the Republic of Liberia.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the signing of this agreement took place on Monday morning at the headquarters hosting the seventh edition of the National Security Open Days, held in the capital, Rabat.
This memorandum reflects the mutual desire of both parties to strengthen the bonds of friendship and technical cooperation, as well as operational partnerships between the police services of the two countries. It is also founded on the belief that security cooperation is a vital lever for bolstering collective safety.
The agreement aims to establish a robust framework for police cooperation to combat transnational crime in all its forms, as well as terrorism and violent extremism. This will be achieved primarily through information sharing, technical assistance, operational cooperation, and capacity building for security personnel.
Additionally, the memorandum envisions expanding cooperation between the two countries into other areas, including coordination in migration and border policing, scientific and technical police work, police training, and the development of training programs.
The signing of this agreement underscores the significance of strengthening security partnerships on the African continent to enhance South-South cooperation. It also reflects the DGSN’s intention to engage with new regional and international partners to promote the Moroccan security model and serve the higher interests of the Kingdom of Morocco.
