Marrakech-Safi: The SRM Accelerates the Transformation of Smart Urban Infrastructure

The Marrakech-Safi Multiservice Regional Company (SRM-MS) continues to accelerate its strategy for modernizing smart urban infrastructures in the region, set against a backdrop of challenges related to water, energy, and sanitation management.
Meeting in Marrakech at the Urban Energy Architecture Workshop “WAEU’26,” the SRM-MS emphasized its commitment to enhancing digital transformation and integrating new technologies into the management of territorial public services.
This dynamic approach is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at improving the efficiency of urban networks, strengthening infrastructure resilience, and optimizing the quality of services provided to citizens, particularly in the fields of drinking water, electricity, and sanitation.
In response to demographic pressure, water stress, and growing climate-related challenges, the Marrakech-Safi region is relying on smart solutions based on digitization, data exploitation, and improved management of public infrastructure.
The SRM-MS now regards integrated water-energy-sanitation management as a strategic lever to support sustainable urban development and meet the increasing needs of the territories.
Among the key projects mentioned is the Greater Marrakech desalination program, presented as a model of integrated territorial governance that combines water security, technological innovation, and the energy transition.
The regional company also focuses on digital infrastructures and intelligent network management systems to improve operational performance, reduce losses, and ensure better continuity of public services.
This transformation is part of a broader national dynamic aimed at modernizing Moroccan urban infrastructures, with increasing use of smart technologies to facilitate ecological transition and sustainable territorial development.
