In an internal memo, the company explained that this decision is part of a strategy for more effective management and the reallocation of investments, as global competition intensifies in the field of artificial intelligence.
According to the latest financial figures, Meta had around 78,865 employees at the end of December.
Elimination of Vacant Positions
In tandem with the layoffs, the group also plans to eliminate nearly 6,000 unfilled positions as part of its human resources streamlining efforts.
Technology Sector Under Pressure
Moreover, press reports indicate that Microsoft is also considering a voluntary departure plan that could affect approximately 7% of its workforce, amounting to nearly 8,750 employees, though no official confirmation has been made yet.
