Moroccan Cinema Receives New Support of Nearly 13 Million Dirhams

Moroccan Film Sector Transformation Continues with New Financial Support
The Moroccan film industry is undergoing a significant transformation, bolstered by new financial support aimed at the creation, modernization, and digitization of cinema halls. The Moroccan Cinematic Center (CCM) has decided to allocate a total of 12.875 million dirhams to six projects spread across Casablanca, Tétouan, Tangier, and Rabat.
This decision was made during the inaugural meeting of the Commission for Supporting the Digitization, Modernization, and Creation of Cinema Halls, held in late July in Rabat. The goal is to support both the emergence of new infrastructures and the upgrading of existing establishments.
Casablanca alone accounts for 8 million dirhams of this funding, earmarked for the creation of two new cinema halls. The project "Cinerji Ain Sebaa" is set to receive 4 million dirhams in support, while the "Empire" cinema will also benefit from an equivalent amount, bringing the total funding for new infrastructures in the metropolis to 8 million dirhams.
In Tétouan, the funding focuses on the "Alcazar" cinema, which is receiving two separate grants. The first grant of 575,000 dirhams is intended for its modernization, while a second grant of 650,000 dirhams will facilitate its digitization, totaling 1.225 million dirhams for the establishment.
Support continues in Tangier, where the "Megarama City Mall" complex, encompassing cinemas 1 to 8, will receive 3 million dirhams dedicated to its digitization. In Rabat, the "Renaissance" cinema is allocated 650,000 dirhams for the same purpose.
The distribution of these funds reflects a dual approach: strengthening the offering through the creation of new cinema halls and enhancing existing infrastructures through modernization and digital transition. With this funding, the CCM continues its commitment to supporting the cinema exhibition sector in several major cities across the Kingdom.
