Morocco and the European Commission Strengthen Cooperation in Sustainable Air Transport

The Kingdom of Morocco and the European Commission have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in the field of air transport, with a particular focus on sustainability and energy transition, during a meeting held on Wednesday in Marrakech.

A Meeting on the Sidelines of an International Event
This meeting brought together the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, and the Head of Air Transport Policy at the European Commission, Eddie Liégeois, on the sidelines of the 2026 Global Support Conference for Implementation, highlighting the dynamic partnership between Morocco and the European Union.

Infrastructure Projects and Preparations for the 2030 World Cup
On this occasion, the minister presented the key infrastructure projects undertaken by Morocco in the airport sector, as well as the efforts to modernize the national airline fleet, in preparation for hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

The Challenges of Energy Transition in Aviation
Both parties also discussed the challenges associated with the energy transition in the aviation sector, particularly the development and use of sustainable aviation fuels, as well as the prospects for producing alternative fuels in Morocco.

Toward Decarbonized Aviation
The discussions emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in these strategic areas to support efforts to decarbonize air transport and contribute to sustainable development goals.
