Strengthening Ties: Moroccan and Jordanian Legislators Meet

On Monday, May 4, Rachid Talbi Alami, the President of the Moroccan House of Representatives, held discussions with Khalifa Suleiman Al-Diyat, the President of the Permanent Administrative Committee of the Jordanian House of Representatives. Al-Diyat is in Morocco for a working visit from May 3 to 10, accompanied by a parliamentary delegation.

According to a statement from the House of Representatives, this meeting highlighted the strong historical and fraternal relations binding the Kingdom of Morocco and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Majesty King Abdullah II.

During the exchange, Mr. Talbi Alami provided the Jordanian delegation with an overview of Morocco’s major institutional reforms and significant projects initiated under royal guidance. He also outlined the workings of the Moroccan parliamentary system and the roles of the House of Representatives within the framework of the 2011 Constitution.

In turn, Mr. Al-Diyat emphasized that this visit aims to enhance the distinguished relationship between the two legislative bodies, focusing on the exchange of experiences and best practices. He underscored the commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation, as well as enhancing dialogue and consultation mechanisms among parliamentarians.

The Jordanian official also expressed his country’s interest in Morocco’s experience in decentralization and local governance, commending the depth of historical and fraternal ties between the two nations at both the leadership and grassroots levels.

The Jordanian delegation’s visit will include several meetings and field visits to gain insights into the major projects and reforms underway in Morocco under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

The Jordanian parliamentary delegation comprises several members of the administrative committee, along with senior officials and staff from the Jordanian Parliament’s administration.
