Morocco: Moving Towards a “Structuring” Role in Global Corridors and Value Chains

Morocco is evolving from merely being an attractive destination to becoming a “structuring” player capable of organizing international value chains, economic corridors, and partnerships between Africa, Europe, the Atlantic, and the Global South.
This was stated by the President of the Amadeus Institute, Brahim Fassi Fihri, during the opening of the Global Growth Conference 2026 (GGC) in Rabat on Wednesday.
Morocco: A Geoeconomic Platform Under Construction
According to Mr. Fassi Fihri, the vision articulated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI has provided the Kingdom with a clear strategic direction aimed at:
- strengthening economic competitiveness
- diversifying productive sectors
- transforming infrastructure into sources of power
- embedding Morocco’s emergence within a framework of African co-development
This orientation places Morocco at the heart of economic and geopolitical dynamics between various strategic spaces.
The Atlantic Initiative as a Lever for African Integration
The official particularly highlighted the Royal Initiative for the Atlantic, viewed as a structuring project for the continent.
This initiative aims to transform Africa’s Atlantic coast into a space for economic integration and shared development, particularly for Sahel countries, through:
- logistical and port connectivity
- energy cooperation
- mobility of exchanges
- industrial integration
A Global Context Marked by Uncertainty
Brahim Fassi Fihri also emphasized that the current international environment is characterized by structural uncertainty, marked by overlapping economic, geopolitical, and technological crises.
In this context, states and businesses are called upon to adapt their strategies to enhance their resilience and competitiveness.
Morocco: A Diverse Industrial Platform
The President of the Amadeus Institute reminded participants that Morocco has established itself as a credible industrial platform in several key sectors:
- automotive
- aerospace
- renewable energy
- agro-industry
- logistics
- tourism
- finance
This dynamic is supported by the continuous development of port, energy, road, and digital infrastructures.
Africa Facing a Structuring Challenge
For Mr. Fassi Fihri, Africa’s main challenge does not lie in a lack of potential but rather in a deficit of value chain structuring.
He thus calls for transforming economic fragmentation into industrial opportunities and making energy transition a lever of productive sovereignty.
The GGC 2026 Brings Together Over 1,500 Participants
Organized by the Amadeus Institute, the Global Growth Conference 2026 gathers over 1,500 participants from various backgrounds.
The discussions focus on key themes such as:
- economic sovereignty
- reindustrialization
- productive finance
- digital technology and artificial intelligence
The goal is to consolidate the roadmap adopted during the previous edition and to enhance its operational dimension.
