Morocco-Spain: A Strategic Partnership Signed in Madrid to Strengthen Youth Diplomacy

As part of strengthening relations between Morocco and Spain, the Moroccan Youth Council for Diplomatic and International Cooperation has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with the Diplomatic Academy of the Kingdom of Spain.

The official ceremony took place in Madrid, attended by several figures from diplomatic, economic, cultural, and strategic backgrounds, illustrating the commitment of both parties to consolidate the bridges of bilateral cooperation.

A Cooperation Focused on Parallel Diplomacy and Youth

The memorandum was signed by Moataz Kobri, President of the Moroccan Youth Council for Diplomatic and International Cooperation, and Santiago Filo de Antillo, President of the Diplomatic Academy of the Kingdom of Spain.

This partnership is part of a strategic vision aimed at enhancing the role of Moroccan youth in parallel diplomacy and developing new avenues of cooperation between the two kingdoms.

The two institutions particularly aspire to collaborate in various fields related to leadership, governance, sports diplomacy, soft power, strategic research, and future economies.

Sports and Football as Tools of Soft Diplomacy

The agreement places significant emphasis on the sporting dimension, especially in light of the 2030 horizon.

Football is presented as a lever for soft diplomacy that fosters closer ties between peoples. In this context, the “Football for Peace” program, developed by the Spanish Diplomatic Academy in partnership with La Liga, will be implemented in Morocco by the Moroccan Youth Council.

This program aims to use sports as a vehicle for dialogue, cooperation, and the promotion of values such as peace and coexistence.

A High-Level Diplomatic and Institutional Presence

The ceremony brought together several Spanish diplomatic and institutional figures, including Rafael Fernandez-Pita, the Spanish ambassador and president of the Council of Ambassadors, along with officials from the Spanish Diplomatic Academy.

A Moroccan delegation, consisting of representatives from the Moroccan Youth Council, was also present, including individuals responsible for European affairs and the Vision 2030 project.

Morocco Strengthens Its Parallel Diplomacy in Europe

Through this partnership, the Moroccan Youth Council reaffirms its commitment to enhance its role as a key player in parallel diplomacy and international cooperation.

The initiative also seeks to bolster Morocco’s visibility in European and Mediterranean spaces while highlighting the role of youth as a proactive force in shaping the future of international relations.

A Forward-Looking Cooperation Dynamic

This protocol reflects the renewed dynamics of Moroccan-Spanish relations and the increasing interest in modern forms of cooperation, particularly through cultural, sports, and intellectual exchanges.

It also demonstrates the commitment of both parties to build sustainable projects that foster intercultural dialogue and engage youth in significant international challenges.
