Nador West Med: ONEE Launches a Second High Voltage Line to Secure Power Supply for the Complex

The National Office of Electricity and Potable Water (ONEE) has put into service a second Very High Voltage line (225 kV) aimed at strengthening the power supply for the industrial-port complex of Nador West Med. This new infrastructure enhances the existing setup and supports the growth of the future port and industrial hub in the Oriental region.

This achievement comes a year after the launch of the first line, marking an additional milestone in the gradual implementation of the energy scheme for the site.

A Strategic Infrastructure for Port Development

The primary objective of this second Very High Voltage line is to secure the electrical supply for the complex while ensuring service continuity for future industrial and port activities.

Nador West Med is viewed as a major structuring project for the Kingdom, designed to bolster Morocco’s logistics and maritime competitiveness, akin to the Tangier Med port.

Supporting Industrial Growth

With this new infrastructure, ONEE backs the development of future industrial zones that will be integrated into the port complex. The aim is to meet the rising energy needs of upcoming facilities, particularly in logistics, energy, and heavy industry.

This commissioning fits into a broader strategy aimed at anticipating electrical demand related to the country’s major infrastructure projects.

A Project at the Heart of the National Economic Strategy

The Nador West Med complex plays a key role in the economic development strategy of the Oriental region. It seeks to attract both national and international investments, create jobs, and enhance Morocco’s position on major maritime routes.

Therefore, securing its electrical supply is an essential element to ensure the long-term success and competitiveness of the project.

Morocco Strengthens Its Energy and Port Infrastructures

This new step confirms the Kingdom’s investment momentum in strategic infrastructures, merging port development, energy transition, and the modernization of the national electricity grid.

Through such projects, Morocco continues its strategy to solidify its role as a regional platform in logistics, energy, and industry.
