Ferrari Confirms the Success of Its First Electric Car Despite Initial Criticism

Ferrari Reports Positive Reception for Its First All-Electric Vehicle

Ferrari has announced that its first 100% electric car has been well-received by customers, affirming the success of its foray into the electric vehicle market, despite criticisms that accompanied the model’s unveiling.

Ferrari’s CEO, Benedetto Vigna, expressed that the Italian automaker is "very pleased" with the demand for the Ferrari Elettrica, noting that reservations recorded two months after its launch align with the brand’s targets.

Unveiled last May, this first electric Ferrari is priced at approximately €550,000 (around $631,000). It is a four-door, five-seater sedan, representing a departure from Ferrari’s traditional image, which has historically been associated with high-performance sports cars powered by combustion engines.

During the second-quarter results presentation, Vigna mentioned that orders are coming from both current Ferrari owners and new customers discovering the brand, reflecting the company’s expectations.

The CEO also emphasized that the launch of this model has not altered Ferrari’s long-term electrification strategy. According to him, the brand is not aiming to impose electric vehicles on its clientele but rather to attract buyers genuinely interested in adopting this new technology.

Furthermore, he stated that feedback from customers who have experienced the car in person has been overwhelmingly positive, countering reports of aggressive marketing campaigns or pressure applied to legacy customers to boost sales.

According to the Financial Times, Ferrari has already achieved its sales target for 2026, set at just under 500 units, with significant contributions from the Chinese market.

Vigna clarified, however, that demand is not limited to just one country. Interest in this model is widespread across various international markets, although some regions are more receptive to electric vehicles than others.

Through this first electric vehicle, Ferrari aims to maintain its status as a benchmark in the luxury sports car segment while supporting the global shift towards electric mobility, without compromising its DNA rooted in exclusivity and performance.
