In a meeting held in Guelmim, the board of directors of the Guelmim-Oued Noun Multiservices Regional Company (SRM) approved the budget for 2026 along with the investment program covering the period from 2026 to 2030. This marks a significant step toward structuring the regional management of essential services.

The meeting, chaired by Mohamed Najem Abhai, the wali of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region and president of the board, was also dedicated to adopting governance mechanisms, including the establishment of audit and investment committees. These initiatives aim to enhance transparency and oversight of decision-making processes.

During his address, Mr. Abhai emphasized that these initiatives align with the implementation of advanced regionalization and the modernization of public services related to water, electricity, and sanitation, in line with the region’s ongoing development dynamics.

Meanwhile, Abdellah Benomar, the general director of SRM, provided an overview of the company’s activities since its launch in October 2025. He highlighted initial performance indicators as well as the operational challenges faced.

The investment program for 2026-2030, with a total budget of 3.65 billion dirhams, allocates a significant portion to rural areas, aiming to enhance service continuity, distribution quality, and territorial equity.

It is worth noting that the Guelmim-Oued Noun SRM commenced its operations on October 6, 2025, as the sole regional operator responsible for managing drinking water, electricity, and wastewater services. The company embodies a unified territorial governance model focused on efficiency and community proximity.
