The Casablanca-Settat Regional Council Approves Development Projects Worth 4.3 Billion Dirhams

The Casablanca-Settat Regional Council approved a new series of agreements and structural projects during its ordinary session in July 2026, representing a total investment of 4.3 billion dirhams. This funding is part of the implementation of the Regional Development Program (PDR) for 2022-2027, aimed at strengthening economic and social dynamics across all prefectures and provinces in the region.
Over 1.3 billion dirhams in completed projects
Chaired by Abdellatif Maâzouz, President of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, and attended by the region’s wali, Mohamed Mhidia, this session was highlighted by the presentation of the achievements from the first half of 2026.
During the session, Abdellatif Maâzouz announced the completion of 13 projects representing an investment of nearly 1.3 billion dirhams. In addition, several ongoing projects exceed 5.1 billion dirhams in total costs.
The Council is also continuing to implement programs dedicated to rural development, mobilizing nearly 4.3 billion dirhams for both completed initiatives and ongoing operations.
Industrial investment as a major priority
Strengthening productive investment was one of the main themes of this session. Regional officials approved several projects aimed at creating new industrial zones and developing existing platforms through the revision of partnership agreements.
This strategy seeks to enhance the economic attractiveness of Casablanca-Settat, Morocco’s leading industrial region, while promoting the establishment of new investors and job creation.
Water: a strategic issue for the region
In response to challenges associated with water stress, the Regional Council has adopted several measures aimed at bolstering water security.
The approved projects focus on the preservation of groundwater, mobilization of new water resources, expansion of drinking water supply networks—particularly in rural areas—and continuation of seawater desalination projects.
These initiatives are already ensuring the supply of several localities, with an estimated production of nearly 2.5 million cubic meters of drinking water.
Rural development and job integration
The Regional Council continues its efforts in favor of rural development to reduce territorial disparities and improve local infrastructures as well as access to essential services.
Employment remains a top priority for the region. Several programs will continue to support the professional integration of youth and promote women’s employment, recognized as engines of economic and social development.
Investments in several key sectors
The approved projects span numerous strategic domains, including road infrastructure, transport, economy, entrepreneurship, education, health, sports, urban planning, and public services.
Through these investments, the Regional Council aims to sustainably improve the quality of life for residents while enhancing the competitiveness and attractiveness of Casablanca-Settat as Morocco’s primary economic hub.
The session concluded with the adoption of a message of loyalty and allegiance to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, reaffirming the Regional Council’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s major development projects.
