Weather Update: Rising Temperatures Across Morocco This Saturday
Morocco will experience a notable increase in temperatures this Saturday across several regions of the Kingdom. According to forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology, warm to very warm weather is expected in the southeast, the Oriental region, the southern provinces, as well as in the Saïss, Gharb, Tadla, and Rehamna areas.
Thunderstorms Expected in the East and Middle Atlas
Localized thunderstorms are anticipated in the eastern regions of the country and the mountainous areas of the Middle Atlas. These rain showers may be accompanied by unstable clouds throughout the day.
Relatively dense low clouds are also expected along the Atlantic coast, the Mediterranean front, and the northwest of the Saharan provinces, with a possibility of fog or light drizzles in certain areas.
Strong Winds and Dust Activity in Several Regions
Saturday’s weather will also be characterized by fairly strong gusts of wind in the Tanger region, the Oriental, and the southern provinces. These winds may lead to localized dust storms, particularly in desert areas and open spaces.
Rising Temperatures Across Most of the Kingdom
Minimum temperatures are expected to range between 9°C and 15°C in the mountainous areas of the Atlas and Rif. In contrast, temperatures will vary from 25°C to 29°C in the east of the Oriental and the southern Saharan provinces.
In the Saïss, Gharb, and southeastern regions, nighttime temperatures will hover between 20°C and 25°C, while other parts of the country can expect temperatures between 16°C and 20°C.
Throughout the day, maximum temperatures are forecasted to rise generally, reinforcing the summery feel across most Moroccan regions.
Sea Conditions
The sea will be calm to slightly choppy on the Mediterranean and the Strait of Gibraltar. It will be slightly choppy between Tangier and Boujdour, and moderately choppy between Boujdour and Lagouira.
Given the weather conditions, caution is advised, especially in areas most exposed to heat, where it is recommended to limit outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day.
