Operation “Clean Beaches”: The SRM Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Sponsors Sidi Boughaba Beach to Safeguard Water and Promote a Sustainable Coastline.

Clean Beaches Initiative: A Commitment to Coastal Preservation

As part of the "Clean Beaches" initiative launched by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, the Regional Multi-Services Company of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (SRM-RSK) reaffirms its commitment to coastal preservation by managing and animating Sidi Boughaba beach. This effort is in partnership with the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, the Province of Kénitra, and the Sidi Taibi Municipality.

Through this initiative, SRM-RSK aims to provide beachgoers at Sidi Boughaba with a welcoming, clean, and accessible recreational space. In line with its public service missions, SRM-RSK also uses this operation to raise awareness among citizens about sustainable water management issues. The organization promotes eco-friendly practices to conserve this essential resource and emphasizes the importance of responsible water and electricity consumption, especially during the summer months.

Throughout the summer season, a daily maintenance system is in place to ensure a high level of cleanliness and comfort. This maintenance includes regular cleaning of the beach and its access points, continuous upkeep of sanitary facilities, waste management, and maintenance of various public amenities.

SRM-RSK has also installed infrastructure to enhance visitor experience, including wooden walkways for easier beach access, lifeguard towers, free umbrellas, and amphibious wheelchairs for individuals with reduced mobility, promoting more inclusive access to the coastline.

This year, a central focus is on promoting eco-friendly practices through the national campaign "B7ar Bla Plastic," spearheaded by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment. This campaign is designed to encourage responsible behaviors and combat plastic pollution that threatens marine ecosystems.

As part of this effort, an engaging program is offered throughout the season to raise awareness among beachgoers in a fun and participatory manner. Activities include beach radio broadcasts, drawing and recycling workshops for children, waste collection drives, cultural and sports activities, as well as educational efforts focused on coastal protection.

The programs address several key themes such as reducing plastic waste, preserving water resources, saving energy, the impacts of climate change, and water stress, with the goal of making every visitor an active participant in protecting their environment.

By participating in the National Program "Clean Beaches 2026," SRM Rabat-Salé-Kénitra reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development that balances service quality, environmental protection, and citizen awareness. Firmly believing that coastal preservation is a collective responsibility, SRM-RSK, alongside its partners, will continue its efforts to promote a culture of ecological citizenship and sustainably protect our region’s natural heritage.
