Winter Preparation: SRM-SM Strengthens Preventive Operations on Liquid Sewage Networks

Network Maintenance and Cleaning Operations: SRM-SM Intensifies Preventive Measures

As the winter season approaches, the Société Régionale Multiservices Souss-Massa (SRM-SM) is ramping up its preventive operations to address the risks associated with rainfall and ensure the proper functioning of liquid sanitation infrastructure.

From January 1 to September 30, 2026, the teams at the Direction Exploitation Assainissement recorded significant intervention efforts aimed at maintaining and enhancing sanitation networks through both preventive and corrective measures that aim to minimize obstruction risks and improve water flow conditions.

During this period, a total of 161.64 km of network was cleaned using hydro-cleaning technology, alongside the cleaning of 40,344 inspection chambers and 39,603 storm drains. The teams were also responsible for clearing 125 storm overflows and maintaining specialized structures within pumping stations and treatment plants, amounting to a substantial volume of 2,802.50 m³.

These interventions play a critical role in preparing infrastructure for the rainy season, facilitating proper water drainage while reducing the risks of clogging and overflow.

Enhanced Resources for Anticipating Malfunctions

In addition to preventive operations, SRM-SM continues to carry out necessary corrective interventions to maintain functional installations. The report highlights 29,716 blockage-clearing operations and the extraction of 1,225.80 tons of sludge.

Infrastructure monitoring has also been strengthened by advanced inspection and diagnostic tools: 2,926 meters of network were inspected using robotic cameras, and an additional 25.2 km was surveyed with zoom cameras. Furthermore, 230 outdated connections have been rehabilitated.

These actions enable better identification of anomalies, allowing for prioritized interventions while contributing to the sustainable preservation of the networks.

A Commitment to Safety and Quality of Life

Through these operations, SRM-SM reaffirms its dedication to risk anticipation, infrastructure protection, and the continuous improvement of public liquid sanitation services.

Preparation for the winter season also relies on the vigilance and mobilization of operational teams, with a focus on alleviating inconveniences associated with heavy rainfall and preserving the quality of life for citizens across the Souss-Massa region.
