SRM-SM Takes a Major Step in Its Ecological Transition with the Completion of Its First Carbon Assessment 2025.

As part of its commitment to sustainable development and combating climate change, the Souss-Massa Regional Multi-Service Company (SRM-SM) has conducted its first Carbon Assessment for 2025, covering all its activities in the electricity, drinking water, and wastewater sectors.
This strategic initiative reflects SRM-SM’s desire to measure, manage, and reduce its environmental footprint, in line with best international practices and the requirements of a low-carbon transition.
The carbon assessment was carried out using a rigorous methodology that includes both direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scopes 1, 2, and 3). The study identified the main sources of emissions related to energy consumption, water pumping and treatment, transportation, as well as operational and maintenance activities.

The results obtained were subject to a transparency audit and validation in accordance with ISO 14064 standards, ensuring the reliability, traceability, and credibility of the data collected and analyzed.
This initiative has also allowed SRM-SM to establish a decarbonization roadmap based on several priority axes:
– Reducing energy consumption;
– Developing renewable energy sources;
– Optimizing processes and infrastructure;
– Enhancing operational efficiency;
– Raising awareness and mobilizing stakeholders.
Through this structuring project, SRM-SM reaffirms its commitment to integrating climate issues at the core of its development strategy and actively contributing to national energy transition and carbon neutrality objectives.
